The Shape of Us, 2021

Ink on Japanese paper

33 x 24 cm

The body is our mother tongue. It shows our mood, knows we’re in love before we do. This series is the continuation of the ‘Pedestrians’ series, exploring postures and body language. During confinement I painted the people close to me – friends and family – doing simple things like walking, hugging. It is a portrayal of familiar intimacy, showing the quiet moments in life, alone and together, when we feel at home.
