During a two weeks residency with the dancer, performance and textile artist Miriam Rose Gronwald at ODRADEK OFF in Brussels I painted live for the first time. This series was made during our performances, in which I translated her movements onto paper.

“I really appreciate when the head is not in the picture” a visitor said.

When dancing our body leads us and we follow our feelings.

Melody

You wrote this letter
into the room
I read your body
like a moon

From hand to foot (left)
Des yeux à la main (right)

My body and me
finding our song

Dear feet

Welcome home

Thoughts settle, like water into sand
and answers are there
like the smell of rain in the air

Sometimes time carries you away
and everything becomes
one octopus day

Two
persons
walking

Expanding gently

Sunlight, light years

A letter from the core

If a spirit (a person, thing or tree)
came to sign this moment
this is what it’d be

When a dream carries you into the day, when the air smells of summer rain,
when you meet a friend in the street,
and life takes you by the hand,
to dance

Growing time
